UPDATED ADVICE – ARRANGEMENTS FOR CLUB PERMIT RENEWALS AND CLUB PERMIT APPLICATIONS

I refer to recent contact about arrangements for club permit renewals, and my advice that permit should only be paid through mailing the renewals to VicRoads. I would like to update this advice.

As you are aware, a number of queries have been made about the availability of payments by credit card, given that many people no longer have cheque books and money orders have a purchase cost.

After some discussion today, it has been determined that:

· Whilst they remain open, VicRoads Customer Service Centres will continue to accept payment for club permit renewals.

· If permit holders do not wish to attend a customer service centre, they can continue to renew permits though mailing the renewal to VicRoads, GPO Box 1644 Melbourne 3001

The renewal process is described on VicRoads’ website.

Queries have also been received about applications for new permits. The process for applying for new permits has not changed, and is described on VicRoads’ website. New club permits can continue to be applied for at VicRoads’ Customer Service Centres.

Please accept my apologies for any confusion caused.

I request that you pass this updated information to your constituent clubs.

CANCELLED Round 8 Tafe Logic Track Single car sprint

Our Tafe Logic Event-
is now cancelled and will be rescheduled to a date to be advised.
Please read our Presidents message:
KCC Round 8 Closed Club One Car Sprint
Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd March 2020
Wodonga Tafe Logic Track
45 Albertson Road, Barnawartha North

Hi everyone,

Thank you to everyone who has responded early on this request – we already have over 50% of the committee / leadership group agreeing to cancel the Wodonga event, so I am able to call it early.

The event is now cancelled and we will arrange another date with the venue. It is unfortunate that we have had to do this but we need to be responsible with our operations whilst also following government requirements. We have a committee meeting scheduled for next Wednesday at which we will make a decision on the April autocross event at Kyneton. Depending on the government requirements that are constantly evolving we may have to do the committee meeting as a teleconference – we will advise as things progress.

Thanks everyone for your understanding on this situation – we will have plenty of opportunity when this has settled down to catch up and satisfy our adrenalin starvation. In the mean-time perhaps the more computer literate ones amongst us could work out how we could have an “on line” club championship – just a positive lateral thinking approach to keep everyone interested.

We will communicate regularly with our membership to keep everyone informed. I have also attached the letter from Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca about COVID19 and how it affects motorsport for your information. It has useful links to the Government advice websites and the Australian Institute of Sport advice.

Be sensible, safe, practice good personal hygiene and social separation requirements when out in public.

Regards,

Subject: Wodonga Tafe Logic Track event / COVID19 Corona Virus

Hi everyone,

I have been asked to make a difficult decision today, one which I would not do prior to consulting with the committee, in relation to the Wodonga event. Whilst we may comply with all the government requirements and can achieve social distancing requirements for the event due to its nature and outdoor location, it has become apparent that we may not be able to run the event through another stakeholder. It is predicted that TAFE will close the site re: COVID19, before the end of the week however this is not certain. The question is whether we wait until this occurs or whether we proceed with the event hoping it is not cancelled.

My questions of all committee members are:

  1. Do we cancel the event now  YES or NO
  2. Do we wait to see if we are still able to run it in the hope that we can keep the event on? YES or NO

Either way it will have a cost but the venue has promised a re-booking without  penalty.

Please ensure that you reply by email prior to mid-day on 18 March 2020 at which time I will call the result and make the appropriate arrangements.

Thanks for your understanding in this challenging period.

Regards,

Wes Wilkinson

A letter from the CEO, Eugene Arocca – 16 March, 2020

I would like to take the opportunity to write to you to provide an update on COVID-19 and its impact on motorsport more broadly.

As you would no doubt be aware, the situation is constantly changing and evolving and an internal working group at Motorsport Australia is regularly meeting to monitor the situation. We plan to send out regular updates to you, our members, as necessary to provide any important information.

While some larger events have been cancelled or postponed, at this stage, I can confirm that a number of Motorsport Australia sanctioned events will continue with our support, in line with any government restrictions and also with suitable precautions in place.

Some of these precautions are expected to include, but will not be limited to:

  • Encouraging social distancing (standing 1.5m away from others)
  • Providing drivers’ and officials’ briefings electronically
  • Communicating to participants at all levels that if they are unwell, they must stay away from the venue
  • The provision of hand sanitisers and hand washing facilities at events

In times like these, it is important that we can enjoy our sport in a safe and practical way, while ensuring good hygiene and social distancing practices are maintained. We will also contact our clubs, event organisers and promoters with key information that will help protect those participating in events in the coming weeks and months.

Motorsport Australia encourages all participants, whether officials, competitors, licence holders and event organisers to remain extremely vigilant and practice good hygiene, including the use of hand sanitiser.

Some helpful resources include the Department of Health’s COVID-19 site, which can be accessed by clicking here.

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has also prepared some informative content for those involved in sport, which can be found by clicking here.

If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via our membership hotline or via replying to this email.

Regards,
Eugene Arocca
Motorsport Australia CEO

URGENT - BROADFORD ROUND 7 SUNDAY 19th JANUARY POSTPONED TO SUNDAY 5TH JULY 2020

NEWSFLASH
ROUND 7 Broadford track bitumen event has been postponed until Sunday 5th July 2020.  It will still be known as
ROUND 7 of the 2019/2020 series.
NEW SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS WILL BE ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT AT A LATER DATE.
Thank you for your understanding. Members that have pre paid for this event can either be refunded or leave their payment as pre paid for July 5th.
We do apologise for any inconvenience.

Good Evening

A meeting was held today 4pm at KCC Clubrooms to discuss first and foremost Round 7 Broadford Track event that has been cancelled by the Broadford Motorcycle Complex on the 19th January, 2020 BMC offered us various dates being Sunday 26th January 2020 which was a week later but falling in the middle of the Australia Day Long weekend.  We as a group of members 17 in attendance, weighed up the pros and cons of the options we were given.  Due to the fact that quite a number of members who had already entered had other commitments for the Australia Day weekend it would have been financially unviable, also fairness to all members running in the Series, fire conditions in all our areas etc made the decision to postpone our Round 7 of the 2019/2020 series until  Sunday  5th July 2020 a pretty easy one.  There were 4 dates on offer and it was worked through by a vote of members until we came up with a suitable date. By running the 5th July at the Broadford track it will not interfere with our July 19th  round of Autocross in the 2020/2021 Series.

We apologise for any inconvenience to members this has caused but it was a force majeure with the track resurfacing not able to be finished per BMC schedule when we booked the track.  BMC have been very reasonable in working with us to accommodate dates etc for our event.

There will be a new set of Supplementary Regulations issued for the 5th of July event which will still be run as Round 7 of the 2019/2020 series.  It was very informative and lots of discussion bantered around in how we will run the event in July.

Paul Lincoln has advised that there is a Winton Fun Day running on the Aust Day Weekend and if you are still looking at running on the black stuff.  Paul will give me the details shortly and they will be on the website if you are interested.

PLEASE NOTE:

Our AGM and General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 22nd January,  2020 at the Kyneton Bowling Club.  A table has been booked in the bistro from 6pm for those wanting to catch a meal with club members and committee prior to the AGM at 7pm, A general meeting will be held at the conclusion of the AGM.

Frontal Head Restraints

Hi everyone,

Great news on the event front with a clarification of the FHR regulations from Motorsport Australia (CAMS) – meaning that if you are running a road registered or unregistered car that is not log booked then you do not need FHR. I am pleased that we finally got this information from Motorsport Australia and hopefully this means that if you have been holding back putting in an entry, you can now enter either Broadford or Wodonga. If you have a log booked car however you have to have FHR unless you change your log book to Category 7 Speed (only) which is exempt.  Scrutineers please familiarise yourselves with the information below.

Call me if you have any questions.

Regards,

Wes Wilkinson

Subject: FHR in speed events

As per the phone conversation on FHR

Part B of the below bulletin and in Schedule D (click-here) Table 1.4 Speed

Category 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (other than Go Karts) fall under part (a) and (b) of the note (and the text of the bulletin below) in schedule D table 1.4 Speed.

Category 7 Speed is not included in the requirement set out in the note.  Therefor any vehicle log booked as category 7 speed does not required the drive to have a FHR and / or a level A or B helmet.

All registered and unregistered vehicles without log books are not included in the requirement.  Therefore these vehicles do not require the driver to have a FHR and associated safety equipment to use it.

A FHR compliant with Standard A and a Helmet compliant with Standard A must be worn when competing in:

(a) Each 1st Category (single seater) automobile, except for:
                  (i) a Superkart; or
(ii) a 5th Category automobile which is exempt from the use of a FHR.

(b) Each automobile the subject of a CAMS Log Book which applies a RACE, RALLY/ROAD, OFF ROAD or 5th CATEGORY classification that requires the mandatory use of a FHR.

The use of a FHR is not required for a Road Registered automobile for a SPEED Event, except where Article (b) above is applicable.

Regards

Keith
